Emotions have a very short life span. It’s like a momentarily ripple of wave on the surface of your being. When you are not in your body, an emotion can survive inside you for days, weeks or months.
Or join with other emotions of a similar frequency that have merged and become the pain body, a parasite that can live inside you for years. Feed on your energy, lead to physical illness, and a miserable life, (hence arthritis, and other physical ailment).
Lingering emotions prevent you from gaining access to your inner body, which lies deep underneath.
Give attention to your emotions. Giving attention to your emotions does not mean just think about them. It means observe the emotions, to feel it fully, acknowledge and accept it as it is. Some emotions are easily identified; anger grief, fear, etc. Place your attention on the feelings check if your mind is holding onto a grievance pattern, resentment etc.
Forgiveness is to offer no resistance to life, to allow life to live through you. Forgiveness is to relinquish your grievance and to let go of grief. It happens naturally once you realize that your grievance serves no purpose. The alternatives are pain, suffering, a restricted flow of energy, and in many cases physical disease.
The moment you forgive, you have reclaimed your power from the mind. Non-forgiveness is nature of the mind, the mind-made false self, the ego, cannot survive without conflict. The mind cannot forgive ONLY YOU CAN.
Become present, enter your body, feel the vibrant peace, stillness, from being. That is why Jesus said: before you enter the temple, forgive.
