You are a recent graduate or unemployed seeking a job. Your search job sites, classifieds or wherever you can think of to find a job in your pursuit of a better and independent future.
You are full of dreams, positive, optimistic and looking forward with lots of hopes that you will be able to start working soon.
You have plans, you need to buy a car, rent if not buy a home, get married and bring your children to this world.
After quantum phone calls and unspecified number of interviews resulting of promises, number of promises of getting back to you that you simply lost count of, you program yourself to take the waiting mode status, a very unsettling mode that you need to painstakingly accept…
Some of you get accepted many other experience failures upon failure till failure drains their optimism out.
Most of those accepted realize after their first month of work resumption that the salary they get is not enough to even cover their relocation and transport bills. After a while they realize that they have become hostages for their need to stick around a bit longer hoping for a salary increase sometimes I the near future.
That increase seldom comes and when it does it is barely enough to be counted as a slight improvement.
What do you do!
How can you get out of such stalemate!
Will you risk taking a chance of leaving your current job and search for a better one if there is any availability for such an alternative…?
Would you consider travelling to a different location or a foreign country in your pursuit of a better work condition!
How far would you be ready to go and how long would you be willing to wait in your gambling experiment along your future search journey…
Is there anything wrong with you, how can you improve your chances to get a better job.
How can you find a new opportunity and what other actions can you explore…
All of these and more must be crowding your exhausted mind.
You may need to train your mind to look into your inner-self in a difference perspective.
And keep in mind that it is not always you who is to blame for a failure, sometimes, it is simply a wrong chemistry between you and the employer, self-improvement courses are good but do not believe in such courses because it is all theoretical, instead, you need to inspect the elements of your previous failure and observe your own habits, your personal behavior in general…
And do remember next time you apply for a job and when you have your interview that:
Only a poor judge of character would ask for your CV after an interview…
In an attempt to elaborate on the above I would suggest you try to profile your employer as much as you expect him or her to profile you. When you sense a poor character in your employers personality do try to take your lead in during your interview and do not go into personal things, rather try to examine the work offer and make sure to let your interviewer sense that you are examining the offer and evaluating it from all sides. When you do that, make sure not to take your time and remember that your performance is what secures your success in most cases, contrary to the common belief which claims that your certificate is what serves you best.
Many of impressive certificates fail due to their lack of experience, many other fail due low grades.
Again; your performance, your body language and self-confidence is what serves you most.
So focus on your body language and tone of voice and try to be as short as you can in your answers, go straight to the point and do ask your employer few questions of your own regarding the job nature, expectations, duties and target and do try to negotiate a better salary without fear of losing your chance.
You are begging for a job and you salary is not an alms granted to the needy.
You have something to offer and you can participate in improvement and development of your work place.
Best of luck
