When scientists talk about the expanding universe, they mean that it has been growing ever since its beginning with the Big Bang.
Existing galaxies are drifting away from our own, the farther they are from our galaxy the faster they are moving away in space and space itself is also moving meaning that there seems to be no center in space since everything in it is on the move away from everything else continuously stretching out to infinity since its assumed beginning 13.7 billion years ago or so…

We as a young specie are restricted in our studies to what is called the observable universe which is the one that surrounds our Earth and this part is like a pinhead in an ocean of space.
The first scientist to notice the universe expansion was Astronomer Edwin Hubble in 1925. He proved that there is direct relationship between the speed of distant galaxies and their distances from Earth this later became known as the Hubble Law.
Light in space was created 380 thousand or so years after the big bang, where Heat smashed together existing atoms causing their transformation into dense plasma, protons, neutrons and electrons scattering a foggy light similar substance.
I will not bore you with more details since this is not the purpose of this article.
The immediate aim for this article is to raise awareness amongst all of us that divine information extracted from Holy books and ancient scriptures discovered at ancient sites throughs archeological digging should and deserve to be taken more seriously than what solid science is currently doing by regarding most of it as ancient history of mumbo jumbo myth, legends and philosophy.
Such findings play a major role in shedding needed light into the dim knowledge of our origin and the past of our existence. There is enough solid evidence in such scientifically oriented verses and psalms in Holy books and other ancient scrolls and papyruses which modern science is realizing the accuracy of its content sometimes in fascinating details impossible to ignore such as verses and psalms related to the creation of the universe, Earth, different species including ours and Life in general…
Let us take these following verses from the Quran related to the creation of the Universe:
Though the English interpretation of Quran found on the web is rather poorly executed due to what I presume a lack of scientific knowledge correlated with the verses, I will try to clarify such vague interpretation to the best of my knowledge hoping it will suffice and serve its purpose.
From Quran, Surat al Zaryat verse 47:
وَٱلسَّمَآءَ بَنَيۡنَـٰهَا بِأَيۡيْدٍ۬ وَإِنَّا لَمُوسِعُونَ (٤٧)
We have built the heaven with might, and We it is Who make the vast extent (thereof). (47)
My version; (And we have built the heaven by hand, meaning manually, meaning it was not formed by itself as modern science iterates, next in the verse is, and we are continuously expanding it).
Modern science successfully recognizes that the universe is expanding but unfortunately it fails to admit that such miracle cannot be self-accomplished without an external catalyst.
Surat al Anbiyaa verse 30:
أَوَلَمۡ يَرَ ٱلَّذِينَ كَفَرُوٓاْ أَنَّ ٱلسَّمَـٰوَٲتِ وَٱلۡأَرۡضَ ڪَانَتَا رَتۡقً۬ا فَفَتَقۡنَـٰهُمَاۖ وَجَعَلۡنَا مِنَ ٱلۡمَآءِ كُلَّ شَىۡءٍ حَىٍّۖ أَفَلَا يُؤۡمِنُونَ (٣٠)
Have not those who disbelieve known that the heavens and the earth were of one piece, then We parted them, and we made every living thing of water? Will they not then believe? (30)
In the above verse I will focus on the verb described to part them, the more accurate to interpret the Arabic version is split apart instead of part, since splitting apart comes with resisting force of binding mater.
I would relate this verse to the Big Bang theory.
Surat Fossilat verses 9 to 12:
قُلۡ أَٮِٕنَّكُمۡ لَتَكۡفُرُونَ بِٱلَّذِى خَلَقَ ٱلۡأَرۡضَ فِى يَوۡمَيۡنِ وَقَدَّرَ فِيہَآ أَقۡوَٲتَہَا فِىٓ أَرۡبَعَةِ أَيَّامٍ۬ سَوَآءً۬ لِّلسَّآٮِٕلِينَ (١٠) ثُمَّ ٱسۡتَوَىٰٓ إِلَى ٱلسَّمَآءِ وَهِىَ دُخَانٌ۬ فَقَالَ لَهَا وَلِلۡأَرۡضِ ٱئۡتِيَا طَوۡعًا أَوۡ كَرۡهً۬ا قَالَتَآ أَتَيۡنَا يَوۡمَيۡنِ وَتَجۡعَلُونَ لَهُ ۥۤ أَندَادً۬اۚ ذَٲلِكَ رَبُّ ٱلۡعَـٰلَمِينَ (٩) وَجَعَلَ فِيہَا رَوَٲسِىَ مِن فَوۡقِهَا وَبَـٰرَكَ فِيہَا طَآٮِٕعِينَ (١١) فَقَضَٮٰهُنَّ سَبۡعَ سَمَـٰوَاتٍ۬ فِى يَوۡمَيۡنِ وَأَوۡحَىٰ فِى كُلِّ سَمَآءٍ أَمۡرَهَاۚ وَزَيَّنَّا ٱلسَّمَآءَ ٱلدُّنۡيَا بِمَصَـٰبِيحَ وَحِفۡظً۬اۚ ذَٲلِكَ تَقۡدِيرُ ٱلۡعَزِيزِ ٱلۡعَلِيمِ (١٢)
Say (O Muhammad, unto the idolaters): Disbelieve ye verily in Him Who created the earth in two Days, and ascribe ye unto Him rivals? He (and none else) is the Lord of the Worlds. (9) He placed therein firm hills rising above it, and blessed it and measured therein its sustenance in four Days, alike for (all) who ask; (10) Then turned He to the heaven when it was smoke, and said unto it and unto the earth: Come both of you, willingly or loth. They said: We come, obedient. (11) Then He ordained them seven heavens in two Days and inspired in each heaven its mandate; and We decked the nether heaven with lamps, and rendered it inviolable. That is the measuring of the Mighty, the Knower. (12)
In the above verse, there is an indication that God created Earth in two heavenly days then he proceeded to the heaven while it was still smoke, Now here I would relate the smoke to Gas since there was no Gas discovered in those days the best description to gas that would make sense to people of that time would have been the word Smoke since the definition of Smoke means: Hot and dense smoke means you cannot see through it , heavy and dark, or further elaboration, A visible suspension of carbon or other particles in air, typically one emitted from a burning substance.
Now, is that what scientist describe regarding the state of the universe at the beginning of its formation, that it was Gaseous and then there was the big bang.
gravity formed stars and galaxies from clouds of gas, carbon, oxygen and iron, were continuously produced in the hearts of stars and catapulted throughout the universe in stellar explosions called supernovae.
Large fraction of the universe 26%, is made of unknown matter called “dark matter”. Unlike stars and galaxies. Then there is the “dark energy” about 70% of the mass-energy content of the universe, these dark substances are believed to be the super glue that keeps our universe and the starts in it bound together within its border.
Conclusion; if such accurate details are found in Holy books related to knowledge most of it is till beyond our comprehension we should consider such divine data is serious and crucial as the solid science we all crave for to explain the origin of things and the future it will lead to.
Then there is another question raised from the last section following the creation of earth in two days, that is He proceeded to attend to the heavens formation after finishing from Earth, that means Earth is as old as the other stars in the universe and this conclusion presents a very argumentative challenge to the whole theory of Evolution based upon Darwin and whoever followed his footsteps afterwards, but this we will discuss separately in other up coming articles…
